The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism in Peru, Luis Fernando Helguero, has announced that 13 Peruvian coffees have won awards at the 8th International Contest of Roasted Coffees at Origin, which was held at the Embassy of Brazil in France and organized by the Agency for the Valorization of Agricultural Products. The Peruvian coffees that won gold medals in the contest were the Geisha varieties from Origin Quea Coffee Company (Cusco), high-altitude coffees from San Juan del Oro (Puno), and coffee from Finca Yohan (Pasco). Silver medals were awarded to the Geisha Natural coffee from Incan Forests SAC (Junín), Ucumari Café de Montaña (Pasco), and high altitude coffee from San Juan del Oro (Puno). Café Warakero (Puno), Mundonovo Naranjo from Origin Quea Coffee Company (Cusco) and Chasca (Pasco) were awarded with a bronze medal. Additionally, Gourmet certificates were delivered to Warakero (Puno) and Quero Café (Pasco) coffees. The Minister stated that these awards demonstrate that Peruvian coffees have been winning over the most demanding palates, and that this national product has great commercial potential and these international events are the ideal platform to expose the particular qualities of Peruvian exportable offer such as origin, flavor and aroma.
