The blueberry has emerged as Peru's top agro-export product in the last 12 months, earning $1.411 billion and accounting for 14.4% of agro-exports. This has placed it ahead of other popular exports such as grapes, which earned $1.316 billion, or 13.4% of total agricultural export goods, and coffee, which earned $1.286 billion and accounted for 13.1% of agricultural shipments. The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez, emphasized that blueberry shipments have been growing significantly in recent months and they hope it will continue to position itself as the main Peruvian agro-export good in 2022, surpassing grapes which were the main agricultural export product last year.
